head the American Institute's tally of the top 100 films of this century,
selectively culled from the responses from a group of 1500 people
asked to participate.
The panel, which included
actors Gregory Peck, and Dustin Hoffman,
filmmaker Steven Spielberg and President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary,
picked from a ballot of 400 movies
selected by the Institute.
Most of the movies in
the Top 100
are dramas. In addition, there are eleven comedies,
eight musicals, nine war movies, eight westerns, four science fiction films,
four horror movies and two animated features.
