'R.I.P. Tide'
by Jeff Woodard
. . .
A private eye
tries to escape a sleepy beach
town
where he feels trapped
and alienated.
But after his buddy is murdered,
the detective is drawn into
the investigation. He then discovers a portrait
of a woman who looks just like
a girl he loved desperately,
but who drowned.
He becomes obsessed with the
portrait,
forgets his plans for leaving,
neglects his little schoolteacher girlfriend,
and ignores everyone and everything
else.
When the portrait woman strolls
into his office one night,
he soon gets trapped into a
web of intrigue and mystery
that spirals him down into the
darkest regions
of the town -- and himself.
Comments
R.I.P. Tide is about a man whose
obsession sucks him
into a rip tide of murder, revenge
and fate. Ultimately his own past
reaches through time to pull
him back into what becomes a nightmare.
R.I.P. Tide is a film noir with
elements
of horror, reminiscent of the
Mickey Rourke vehicle
Angel Heart.
R.I.P. Tide was named winner
of the Blue Sky Film Festival
Screenplay
Competition, was a top finalist
at the 1997 America's Best Screenplay
Competition was a finalist at
the 1998 Southwest Writer's Screenplay
Competition, and was a semifinalist
at the 1998 Nichols
Screenplay Fellowships.
