'When Push Comes To Shove'
by Michael C. McPherson
. . .
After time served
for the apparent bludgeoning
death of her father, James,
Celia Daws is released from
a mental institution.
Celia has no memory of the atrocity.
She tries to begin life anew
but the gods of fate have other
plans.
While riding a bus with a friend,
Marilyn,
Celia believes she sees her
father on the street
among the homeless and destitute.
The search for her father
now becomes an obsession.
Celia's stepmother, Josephine,
and Celia's sister, Aurissa,
do all possible to see that
Celia is sent back to the Institution.
Josephine and Aurissa share
a dark secret. They will do whatever it takes
to keep Celia's hands off
the family fortune.
Above and beyond it all,
Aurissa has reasons of her own
for keeping her sister
out of the picture. It has nothing
to do with money
but has a lot to do with her
love
for daddy.
A Chicago Police detective, Elmer
Franks,
takes an interest in the story
surrounding Celia Daws.
For a man grossly unlucky in
love, he has an ulterior motive
to add to the inquisitive side
of his nature.
Sometimes the truth hurts more
than the fantasy of it.
For Celia, this is a reality.
The skeletons in her mental closet
are not nice people at all.
Celia begins to remember things
she's been repressing for years.
Finding daddy is not just an
obsession,
it's a true game
of survival.
Celia truly intends to get on
with her life
and overcome the horrific memories
of past abuse.
The price is high.
Daddy must die
again.
