'Embrasure'
by Eric Stanley
. . .
Once a professional killer,
GARRO is looking for a quiet place to retire.
He chooses Cable, Illinois, hoping that he may live out
the rest of his years
in peace.
LUTHER has lived in Cable
his entire life,
and has witnessed the gradual decay of
his beloved hometown.
Now,
with his widowed daughter
and her three young children to care for, he begins to
doubt how much longer he can protect them
from the decadent
city.
The city has been
sucked dry of all hope by a powerful crime lord, THE BOSS,
and his network
of crews.
The Boss finds out
that Garro has come to Cable and dispatches one of his enforcers
to issue an ultimatum - Garro must leave town
unless he agrees to be available should the Boss
ever need his 'expertise'.
Garro agrees, but very reluctantly.
Meanwhile,
an unlikely friendship develops between Garro and Luther
based on their mutual love
of music.
Even though Luther is
troubled by the rumors of Garro's past,
he cannot help but be taken with
his dangerous friend's intelligence
and charisma.
It is this very intelligence
that embroils Luther, his family, and the local crime lord himself
in a maelstrom of destruction that will change
the face of Cable
forever.
