old man wishes to teach his teenage daughters
the value of hard work and frugality. Reginald Walker 111
writes a bizarre will in which each daughter must compete
with the other to live and work as a common person
and discover how difficult and frustrating
a lowly lifestyle can be.
The contest is monitored
by Beekins, the old man's butler and right-hand man,
who carries out the wishes of the will and judges
the standard of living for each girl.
