A Science Fiction Comedy
THEY ARE HERE is the SCREAM of alien arrival movies.
It is a science fiction comedy that playfully spoofs the alien arrival
theme
and acts as a send-up of the science fiction genre
in general.
The aliens have arrived,
and they are nothing more than army grunts.
They crash-land near a small town in west Texas and encounter humans
who look upon them with the pre-conceived notions fostered by the movies,
television programs, and other media sources prevalent today.
Expectations conflict
with reality
as the aliens deal with these Earth people while simply
trying to repair their ship and
get on their way.
The story spoofs science
fiction in general
yet also maintains an affection for the source material
similar to the way in which the SCREAM movies reflected on horror films
and in which TREMORS reflected
on monster movies.
