'Scrum'
by L. F. Potash
. . .
A group of 30 young men
from very diversified backrounds
are recruited by a persuasive Irish Priest in 1968
for the sole purpose of forming a Rugby team
in the U.S.
Their ethics and tactics
were always in question
but their efforts and hearts were great. To the horror and dismay
of their established European counterparts, this team
started winning the majority of their games
from the beginning.
Their winning streak has lasted 30 years.
The team, now in their
40's and 50's,
still play together and with the aid of Rolaids,
they can still party...
almost as hard.
This is a tale of their
tours,
outrageous parties and individuals that make up
this dedicated but somewhat defiant team.
It could best be described
as
ANIMAL HOUSE meets SLAPSHOT
