Meeting of the minds

Are you interested in getting social procurement started within your organization, but not sure how?

Many of Australia’s leading corporates are looking for solutions to how they manage social enterprises and social procurement.  The Faculty is proposing to establish the “Corporate Board for Social Procurement” to allow companies to learn from each other and develop best practices in this area.

Corporate Australia is walking a tightrope – managing the tough balancing act of being a stellar corporate citizen, whilst minimizing costs to stay competitive.  Indigenous supply, developing resilient regional suppliers, ensuring environmental compliance, maintaining strict quality standards, respecting foreign customs and cultures are all in a day’s work for today’s procurement professional.  Why?  Because every Board knows that in order to be successful, they must ensure they maintain their license to operate – with their customers, their employees and their communities.

Social Procurement offers corporations the opportunity to fulfill their objectives – manage cost, quality and performance – while contributing to positive social outcomes.  By thinking strategically, companies can use their current procurement expenditures to simultaneously realize multiple outcomes – needed services, reputational/brand benefits, operational knowledge and enhanced corporate social impact.
